TOMS “One for One” Movement is brilliant. What better way to get our consumption frenzied society to give back than through shoes. Everyone loves shoes!
The main thing that I love about TOMS is that they are fully transparent about how they are actually giving shoes to children all over the world in need of shoes. Through their giving report they share how it works, what shoes, where they are giving them, and most importantly “why shoes?”.
Other gems that they came up with to spread the movement are:
- One Day Without Shoes—a how-to for educating others about the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life.
- And a viral campaign that asks that you share how you wear them—addressing the barrier that people have styling TOMS with their outfits.
I bought a pair, and they really DO go with everything.
Before I bought a pair, I already noticed San Franciscans everywhere wearing them—which is why I was so reluctant to buy a pair. But, of course, I wanted to support such a great movement. And now, when I wear them, it’s seems even more exaggerated. Like every pair of feet (male and female) I look at are covered in TOMS.
This is definitely a good thing because that means there are that many more feet protected by shoes all over the world. But, it leaves me wondering: are we one step closer to a sexless, uniform society?
